After watching the video, Displaced, 360 VR, New York Times, I was struck by how powerful the images were, and wondered whether words could fully capture the tragedy. The words that nine year old Chuol spoke about being eaten by a crocodile were powerful, however, the image of him walking in the swamp brought it to life. My eyes were drawn to the water to see if a crocodile would attack him. The words Chuol spoke were powerful too when he talked about a slow death from being eaten by a crocodile being better than being killed by the fighters. The words worked well with the images. The images of the other displaced people brought to life their own struggles in a way that words would be difficult to portray.
