Refugee Lives Through VR
VR offered a new and unique way for me to view the lives of refugees a little more. Being face to face with these children sparked a connection in me that I wouldn’t get from just reading these stories. There wasn’t much dialogue to read, but just seeing the same environment the children see was very immersive. This was especially noticeable in the shots where we traveled with the children. The tragedies that struck these children’s lives were clearly visible. Hearing them talk about what they’ve gone through has a profound impact on the viewer. Being able to view and explore the environment they live in, helped me to better understand their situations.

I felt the same in the sense that VR provides needed context for the extent of the situation these people face everyday. Reading and watches videos about it is one thing, but to be face to face with hardship and struggle provides more insight and empathy towards the migrants and their situation.
