A Glimpse of their Reality
I have never done virtual reality before. It was a very strange experience. I was struck by a specific moment where we were standing in a field and there were people around me. When I looked up I noticed a plane flying close above me. Once I looked back down I was shocked to see that I was standing in the field by myself. Before this moment I felt that the environment I was in was certainly different, but it didn’t mean anything to me until I was left in the field alone, not knowing what was going on. It made me nervous, and I felt unsettled. My confusion forced me to really be a part of the virtual reality instead of being distracted by my reality while doing it. Soon after this wow moment, I stopped doing the virtual reality because it was hard to really imagine myself in these peoples shoes. When not participating in virtual reality it is easy to detach ourselves from the pain and torture that is going on in other parts. I was thankful for the opportunity to see only a glimpse of their world because it opened my eyes. I think that more people should participate in virtual reality because it will make them realize what it's like outside of America.

I agree that more people should attempt this virtual reality experience. So I opening, though I feel like we still can't truly understand or relate to what these people are having to go through in their everyday lives.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the fact that it is hard to picture ourselves in their shoes and by not doing it, it is easy to detach ourselves and live in our own world.
