One Description

While reading Claudia Rankine's book Citizen. I was stunned to read her passage about how there is only one guy. This passage articulates Rankine's dislike with policies and groups that profile African American males simply because of the color their skin. I thought this was interesting because it took the all to common problem of racial profiling and put it into a context that allowed it to be more easily understood. I also thought the general wording she uses was interesting because it shows that anyone can be a target of racism and that racism effects all of us even if we do not know it.

  1. I agree, Rankine has done a great job forming and articulating her book. Her choice of wording helps the audience understand her main focus in her book. Also the quote about racial profiling is one of her most powerful quotes and during that passage it brought us into a new perspective of what the typical black male feels when being stop and frisk.
