In my opinion, this story does an excellent job portraying the relationship between some white and black people.
It makes a dark subject. You mean a black subject. No, a black object. (pg. 93)The quote above is an example of Benjamin's subject/object theory. The Citizen is meant to show how the blacks are still treated as objects. They are trying to become subjects back again but forced back to be objects.
