The Power of Beloved

I find it really interesting how Beloved talks about slavery. Everyone in the book has had past trauma of being a slave, running away, not knowing their parents, etc. Yet it is never outright said that they were slaves. It is one of the few fictional books I've read about slavery, and it is definitely the most memorable. I think that the most powerful aspect of this novel is that I am able to really feel what the characters feel, and imagine what I would do and how I would feel if I was put in that situation. That is a really powerful feeling.  I think that everyone should read this book to learn about slavery because it doesn't just present you with facts, it allows you to empathize with the people, and get a sense of what their lives were like during that time.
